Cricket West Indies and Shane Dowrich Reach Amicable Resolution

ST JOHN’S, Antigua - Cricket West Indies (CWI) and Barbadian former West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman Shane Dowrich have resolved legal matters arising from Mr. Dowrich’s early return from the West Indies tour of New Zealand in 2020.

The issues are related to Mr. Dowrich’s eligibility for selection and the non-renewal of his central playing contract. After engagement between the parties, the matter has now been brought to a close.

Both parties are glad to report that the legal issues surrounding Shane’s early return from the New Zealand tour of 2020 have been settled amicably.

Chris Dehring, Chief Executive Officer of Cricket West Indies, said:

"CWI is pleased that an agreement has been reached and welcomes Shane to be part of its coaching structure as he moves into further professional development, having retired from international cricket in December 2023."

Philip Nicholls, Attorney-at-Law for Mr. Dowrich, stated:

"Shane is delighted that this uncertain period over the last five years has come to an end and is now looking forward to forging a coaching career and maintaining his involvement in the game he loves, having hung up his gloves in 2023.”
“He welcomed the opportunity to pass on the knowledge gained during a career that included 35 Test matches to the next generation of cricketers, and wicketkeepers in particular."

Both parties agree that the terms of the settlement will remain confidential between them.
