ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Media Hub in Barbados to cater for travelling and local media for Super 8 and knockout stage

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Local and travelling media are invited to utilise the world-class facilities at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Media Hub, powered by C&W Business for the Super 8 and Knockout stage of the event.

The facility is a first of its kind remote media hub established for the ninth edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Based in Barbados, the World Cup media hub is open to accredited media for the duration of the event.

Ideal for media unable to travel to all matches across the Caribbean, the fully equipped hub provides an opportunity for media to participate in opportunities across all of the event’s matches, including press conference integration from one convenient location.

During the final week of the event, the Media Hub will also host exclusive media opportunities with West Indies Cricket Legends and ICC officials. These opportunities will be communicated in the ICC Daily Media Advisories.

The Media Hub is located at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Conference Centre at Two Mile Hill, St. Michael, Barbados. The modern, multipurpose facility sits on 10 acres of land and can accommodate 200 media personnel. It is just 15 minutes away from Kensington Oval, the location of the Men’s T20 World Cup final, which will be played on 29 June.

The media hub is open from 08h00 am to midnight daily (Barbados time), through to the final on 29 June. Access to the facility is on a first come, first served basis.

Media hub features:

  • A press conference room where media can virtually participate in live post-match press conferences
  • High speed broadband internet with minimum 200Mbps upload and download speed
  • An open plan viewing zone with ergonomic seating for 200 media
  • 20-foot viewing screen and two additional 15-foot viewing screens
  • Real time technical support
  • Indoor food court and accessibility to a wide selection of local and international cuisine to purchase located within walking distance from the hub
  • Relaxation zone

The one-of-a-kind media hub is also being used to engage and educate future media professionals. On Wednesday 19 June, the media hub hosted 19 aspiring students from secondary and tertiary institutions in Barbados seeking to pursue careers in journalism, digital media, broadcast and event management. They were able to get a behind-the-scenes look at how the media, broadcast and digital teams cover a major cricket world cup event. A second tour for students is scheduled for Monday 24 June.

Fawwaz Baksh, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Tournament Director said: “This is the first time a remote media hub has been created for an ICC World Cup event, and it is great to see it come to life in Barbados, with journalists from across the world using the hub to report on games from across the tournament, while enjoying other features at the hub such as a real time virtual participation in press conferences happening in different locations, a relaxation zone, interview opportunities with past and present players and cultural entertainment, like only the Caribbean can do.”
